the plain-English version

Privacy & cookies.

Short and honest. Here is what this site collects, what it does not, and how cookies work here. Last updated July 21, 2026.

This site is run by Emily Adams (Absurdly Useful), Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. If you ever have a question about your data, email emily@emilyadams.org and a real person answers.

The short version

  • This site does not sell your data. Ever.
  • It does not run advertising trackers or sell you to advertisers.
  • The only personal information collected is what you choose to send, for example when you email about a project.
  • Cookies here are limited, and anything beyond the strictly necessary only runs if you accept them in the banner.

What we collect

If you email or contact Emily, we receive the details you send (your name, email address, and whatever you write). That information is used only to reply and to help with the work you asked about. It is not added to any advertising list.

Like most websites, the hosting server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. These logs are not used to build a marketing profile of you.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file a website can store in your browser. This site uses two kinds:

  • Strictly necessary. A small record of your cookie choice so the consent banner does not reappear on every page. This one is required for the banner to work and is always on.
  • Analytics (optional). If, in the future, this site measures anonymous, aggregate traffic to understand what is useful, those cookies run only after you select Accept. Choose Decline and they stay off.

At the time of writing, this site runs no advertising or third-party marketing cookies at all.

Your choices

  • Use the cookie banner to Accept or Decline optional cookies.
  • Change your mind any time by clicking the small cookie button in the corner of the page.
  • Clear or block cookies in your browser settings whenever you like.

Other services

Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts so the site looks right. If you follow a link to another site (for example a client project or a social profile), that site has its own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
